ask the audienzz

we've literally just come back from a little french tour, it was ace + more later, BUT, we had to work out a house party set, all stripped down and casio'd, and it was dead fun. more people offer us house/garden parties please.
right then. slightly breaking form of enigmatic silence, buttttttttttt

we want to do some special gigs for the autumn when our AMAZING new record is released. like, get some massive room and have bunting and stuff, and pick 5 other bands to play and have cake and special tshirts and stuff.

so. you could probably guess what bands we'd ask to play, annnnnnd we're not saying we won't listen to you and go um,no, but, you guys should get involved. we're thinking a LDN show, a birmingham show, and a somewhere else show.

suggest us some places. venues/cities. suggest us some bands. suggest fire eaters and bouncy castles and gardens and other such gimmicks and we'll see what we can arrange (get the adults to arrange for us)

UK only soz, we'll doubtless follow this up with a proper touring later on, but for now, something epic and grandiose seems to be the way forward. write to us at the bottom here, or on facebook or whatever. we're so super proud of how the album is turning out and we want to give birth to it proper.

oks, thank you in advance, o kind and benevolent fanbase of ours, excited...

  2. Manchester 100%. Goes without saying!
    And 'For The Weekend'

    http://www.facebook.com/fortheweekenduk

I would write some sob story into why you should choose Manchester and us. But i'm far too lazy so!

  3. GLASGOW, PLEASE. i haven't seen you guys i almost two years, and i will be living in an Actual Capital City come the autumn, so it'd be nice to finally get to see you lot again!

  4. Somewhere in the north then would make most sense. Leeds would be rad at the brundell.

Totes get sky larkin supporting, oh and runaround kids are really ace too (think they've already supported you in wakey?). Maybe Copy Haho? Their albums just come out and is pretty good.

Make people come in fancy dress too... could all come as ghosts. Do it on Halloween. PLAY DRESSED AS GHOSTS. STUFF LIKE THAT.

  5. Play leeds or bradford again always a good turnout!! And suggest 2 bands Broken Toy Brigade & Speedboat Salesmen!

  6. Cardiff, but I'd see you in Birmingham (or better, Bristol) if it were extra super special <3

  7. Seconding the Brudenell and Sky Larkin. Maybe get bands like Dananananaykroyd and Stagecoach along and make it a super touring buddies reunion show.

  8. Sheffield please! As for bands, your usual touring buddies suit me just fine, but we have some great local acts coming together up here too - check out Love At Death Beach and Cats:For:Peru, and of course I don't need to mention Screaming Maldini.

Obvs if you could bully your way onto the Tramlines lineup that would be amaze as well.

  9. york, the basement of bar lane studios art gallery. everyone would bring lots of ale and wine and it would be free for everyone, the place has no license or anything. i could definately sort this out along with a friend or two.
    as far as bands go:
sad panda, missing kids & wheres hollywood?

  10. Come to Cardiff. We have a little place called the Cardiff Arts Institute which has had loads of great bands and, even better, totally advocates the use of bunting...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Any chance of a Newcastle gig? You guys consistently miss us out on all of your tours, as far as I know you've only played here twice - both times as support acts. Cmon, we won't bite!

  12. Not sure where you could do a big big show in Birmingham but def get Ace Bushy Striptease and lookimakemusic to open up.

    ReplyDelete
  13. it simply has to be manchester... 'Manchester 100%'

  14. I feel like what's really important is that the Birmingham gig features either confetti or a balloon drop.

  15. LNDN wise:
    Gonna have to 16+ it
As far as venues go I'd think that you could take up the whole of Village Underground or Proud Camden and put in fairground stuffs with coconuts (went to something where you got a free coconut for something, can't remember, free bar) and cake, bunting and inflatables as well as the whole live show.
Just a few ideas really but you could fill those two with the bill being who I'd guess.

  16. Oh and have Stagecoach/Sky Larkin and the regular Alcopop/DIY lot involved, and do a Leeds date.

    ReplyDelete
  17. SKY LARKIN
    LOS CAMPESINOS!
    STAGECOACH
TUBELORD (their album release is around the same time)
COPY HAHO (or an alco band)

not like I'll be at any of the gigs, that'd just be an ace lineup even if it's extremely far-fetched.

    ReplyDelete
  18. OH, and ACE BUSHY STRIPTEASE would probably cry tears of joy to play with you guys too. they're the nicest people on earth

    ReplyDelete
  19. The north. That's it. Simple as that. Then you've got a show for the South, one for the best people and one for Northeners.

    Unbiased Midlander's opinion right there...

    Ste's Leeds suggestion is a good'un

    ReplyDelete
  20. Leeds Brudenell! I bet Nath'd be totally up for putting something like this on.
And Sky Larkin, Stagecoach, Dananananaykroyd, Tubelord and Copy Haho would be ace as supports.

    ReplyDelete
  21. GLASGOW guys!
    You know you love it...
Plus plenty of AMAZING local support, Danananakroyd, Frightened Rabbit, Admiral Fallow, Twin Atlantic... even get the Xcerts down from Aberdeen, the possibilities are endless!
You can even try park your van somewhere where it's not gonna get towed away after 11 o'clock again!

  22. Following up on the Glasgow suggestion... How about a gig in the park? For the royal wedding some guys organised a party on facebook for in Kelvingrove Park... quickly went viral and like 10 thousand people showed up, was absolutley insane (ended in a bit of drama but let's skip over that...). So you could arrange (get the adults to arrange) something with the council to let you set up a wee stage in Kelvingrove for a saturday afternoon or something. Or just turn up and do it acoustic/casio-ey

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bristol or Cardiff? Thekla, Stokes Croft or Cardiff Solus are really nice venues. Umm LC!, Copy Haho, Sparky Deathcap, Sky Larkin, Dananananaykroyd, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Meursalt, Islet or Fight Like Apes for support? (that is a lot of suggestions I know, but yh).

  24. You should play Brighton with my lovely friends Flash Bang Band.

Not sure if you remember Rodney from your South African tour... He's their drummer, and he's swell.

  25. Hey guys, you said about a Birmingham show what about the thinktank ?, you could play in ballpit and it would be ace and there's loads of other cool shit there and the place is full of bright colour and intresting things

or you can play at my house in solihull, whatever suits. But yeah thinktank!

    ReplyDelete
  26. oh yeah man,me again about The Thinktank in Brum get some people like Danananaaykroyd,Copy Haho,Sky Larkin,Yuck,LC! even to come and play at the thinktank and everyone should come dressed like characters from kids films and stuff (keeping with the theme of the thinktank which is aimed at kids) , and we should set bouncy castles up for the audience to sit on and it will be supper fun!

Aberdeen. You have to come to scotland, you cant leave us out. There are gardens in the center of aberdeen called Union Terrace Gardens. There is a bill right now to basically cover them in concrete and make them into a parking lot. They are the only green space in the city center! Im pretty sure you guys could do some sort of acousticy set thingy there and have lotsa of carnival things etc etc. It would also raise awareness for the issue of the gardens being destroyed so you would be doing a good thing :) Please xx

  28. when playing the london date, please oh please from the bottom of my heart, make it a 16+ gig. it would just be the best thing ever.

as for support, any of the following would make an ultimate win: stagecoach, copy haho, screaming maldini, young legionnaire, lightguides, los campesinos, hold your horse is, sky larkin, fight like apes, etc etc.

so yeh, dont really mind who supports, just make it 16+.

    ReplyDelete
  29. BRIGHTON!
You can stay at my house and everythinggg, and bring Dananananaykroyd and Stagecoach and Los Camp and fun people like that, and we'll have a wickedcool time

  30. LIVERPOOL.
    The shipping forecast is niiice.
& bring Tellison along again. That was the such a great gig when you played with 'em last last time you came. Get Hot Club de Paris to support as well.

  31. Brighton! If only people would FUCKING TURN UP and mosh!

  32. NORTHAMPTON,NORTHAMPTON,NORTHAMPTON!

Choose to play with New Cassettes, they have the balance between locality and awesomeness!

    ReplyDelete
  33. leedsleedsleeds

Northern city, and always a decent crowd when you play. in fact, remember when it was snowing like mad, the roads were awful, and there was still a decent sized crowd at the Brudenell?

Don't go to some provincial dump. Don't play at some other southern venue. You can do those any time. Make it as massive as possible, and come to the next biggest city in England. <3

    ReplyDelete
  34. The people saying Copy Haho and the people saying Sky Larkin are sensble, exciting and amazing people. Please listen to these people, that'd be such an ace showww

    ReplyDelete
  35. (same goes for Danananakroyd, Xcerts, Sparky and LC! obv)

  36. Dublin(pushing the uk thing but it'd be grand)

Other awesome band: Fight like apes.

Venue: Workmans club, whelans, the academy 2...

Gimmick: Few Naggins be grand. Promise everyone "the shift",

    ReplyDelete
  37. You should play in Boston. D: D:

With Los Campesinos, Stagecoach...and The Joy Formidable! but that would actually be impossible. Do you guys like The Joy Formidable, by the way?

    ReplyDelete
  38. WE CANT DANCE! YOU TWO ARE AMAZING TOGETHER!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey, you should get teamABC to play, I only know about them because you said something about listening to the guys demo on formspring but I've just brought their LTD edition cd boxset and it's ace.

OH, and someone mentioned screaming maldini who were great at tramlines so I will second that
